Democracy is drunk again
It’s thrown decency to the curb
Rolling over the first amendment
And on and on it swerves
It’s gone on a big oil bender
And snorted some lines of Koch
Tipsy on white nationalist power
Be damned — us normal folk
Our designated driver
An orange colored clown
Crosswalks are replaced with walls
Protestors — plowed down
But the media won’t cover it
They’re not behind the wheel
Accomplices to billionaires
They don’t report what’s real.

Tiffany Skogstrom loves rock climbing and social justice, and occasionally writes poetry.
