The thing that I love most about science is that it allows you to stand on the precipice of human understanding, and step into the unknown through thoughtful experimentation.

But this exhilarating feeling of embracing the uncharted is often still limited to certain environments, and certain people with certain degrees and the experiments normally must have certain conditions. Enter Josh McGinnis, a software engineer turned citizen scientist, whose passion for bioprospecting appeared one day on my LinkedIn feed.
