The EU is leading the way on creating a decentralized, fair legal framework where Biotron can thrive in the form of 4 new laws covering AI, connected devices, portability and platforms.

This new regulatory regime seeks to encourage so much needed sharing of data but also to control how it’s all done, including the mechanisms and the entities that facilitate data sharing.

Simply, this represents the convergence of data regulation and antitrust/monopoly-busting, first hinted at in GDPR. While GDPR impacted all companies and could be mitigated by compliance processes familiar from a security and risk-management context, these new laws strike at the heart of Big Tech’s business model and crucially, support a new way of doing business with data, one in which data unions are due to play a great role.

These laws are coming into force from the end of 2023.

We’ll publish more about these regulations as they happen.

Enjoy your weekend,

Martin
