A flock of ibises

This morning, as I was in my neighborhood, I saw a flock of about 18 ibises. With their Dr. Suisse big curved noses, they always make me laugh. They seem so improbable and wacky.

But what I really noticed this morning was their behavior. They acted like a flock of kids running from house to house on a halloween trick-or-treat hunt. One kid grabs the candy from a bowl, then all the other hands rush in for their fill. Just like the ibises, one digs his beak into the ground, to be followed by 17 other beaks in the same location. Then off to the next hot spot. The 18 ibises, dresses like little ghosts, excitedly ran from food source to food source. Do they ever rest?
