THE MATCHUP
After beating Great Falls on Sunday evening, the O’s are now 6–3 against the Voyagers, including a perfect 5–0 mark at home. Dating back to last season, the Osprey have won six straight meetings with the Voyagers at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field. Overall, Missoula has won the last four meetings of the series.
LAST NIGHT:
The O’s jumped to an early 2–0 lead for the second consecutive night, using a two-run homer from Eduardo Diaz in the first to strike first. The homer began a cascade of long balls for the Osprey, as they finished with four total home runs, accounting for all eighth runs. As a team, the Osprey fell a grand slam short of the “home run cycle.” After Billings tied the game in the third, Osprey starter Brady Muller settled into form, throwing seven dominante innings, allowing just two runs, and stiking out a season-high nine batters.
Andy Yerzy went 3-for-5, falling a triple short of the cycle…he follows Gabriel Maciel as the second Osprey player in as many nights to miss out on the rare feat.
Keshawn Lynch homered for the second consecutive game…more than a month elapsed between his first and second homers of the year, but his third came just 24 hours after the second. Brandon Leyton added his third homer of the year.
TONIGHT:
The Osprey finish a brief two-game home series against the Great Falls Voyagers, seeking a third home sweep against them. After beating the Voyagers on Sunday night, the O’s now boast a perfect 5–0 mark against them at home. Right-handers Edgar Martinez and Brandon Agar are slated to pitch. Martinez has not previously faced Great Falls, but Agar has pitched twice against the Osprey, logging quality starts both times. In 13.0 innings against Missoula, Agar has surrendered 3 ER (2.07 ERA). On June 26, Agar fired seven scoreless innings with just three hits.
On the Osprey side, Edgar Martinez turned in his best start of the season his last time out, holding the Helena Brewers to just 1 earned un in a career-high 6.0 innings of work. After logging three straight scoreless frames to begin the night, K.J. Harrison launched a solo home run in the fourth to put Martinez behind 1–0. The Osprey lineup then responded for three runs in the home half of the fifth, sending Martinez out with a lead. While the lead was surrendered in the eighth, the Osprey charged back to win the game on an eighth-inning ground ball single by Terence Connelly through the right side of the infield.
