I moved to Amsterdam two months ago. In the first weeks, I asked on twitter what meetup groups I should know in Amsterdam. I was mainly interested in tech, infrastructure, SRE, DevOps related topics. It got quite a few responses from the people in the area. I thought “why not collecting them in a blog post?”

Thanks to all who helped me to compose this list by responding to my tweet. Hope to meet you sometime in the future at one of the events!

This is a list in no particular order. It is basically in the order of the responses I got. I am sure you will find the ones you like. :)

Software Circus

There are ~4K people in the group. Only for Feb; I see three evenings planned already! From their about page:

We are a motley crew of dreamers who are unhealthily obsessed with consuming information and changing ourselves and those around us. We love software, tech and anything (from any discipline) that is going to change the world. Apart from our wider focus, we believe that meetups should be a lot of fun where laughing out loud and meeting new people is built in, not an opt-in extra.

Docker Randstad

A lot of people in the group again!

Learn, Collaborate & Dockerize! Meet other developers and ops engineers in your community that are using and learning about Docker. Docker is an open platform that helps you build, ship and run applications anytime and anywhere. Developers use Docker to modify code and to streamline application development, while operations gain support to quickly and flexibly respond to their changing needs. Docker ensures agility, portability and control for all your distributed apps.

Meetin’up at Picnic

Picnic is the company I work for. 🤓 It is an online supermarket who delivers groceries to your door in a sustainable way. Picnic has a meetup group that holds regular meetups in their office.

Interested in the latest technologies, sharing your passion for code, 👨‍💻👩‍💻 or just looking for some drinks, 🍺 food, 🍕 and good company? You’ve come to the right place! We host regular talks on all things programming with in-house speakers, in our offices, with our very own bar tap and kitchen. What else could you be asking for? 😉

Continuous Delivery Amsterdam

Looks like Amsterdam’s meetup groups are huge!

This Group will bring software people together to share ideas and experience in the domain of Continuous Delivery. Continuous Delivery addresses the entire software delivery pipeline — from CI to testing to deployment to release — and addresses technology, process and organization. Anything within that domain will be in scope for our Group.

DevOps Amsterdam

Of course, there is one DevOps meetup group in Amsterdam. Surely, I will join them soon!

Bringing together developers and operations people united in a common goal: destroy silos and remove obstacle to deploy and maintain awesome software and reliable infrastructures. Monitoring, continuous integration, packaging and automated deployment will all be covered. It’s going to be fun too!

We’re an Amsterdam based user group, with talks and events aimed at .NET developers. If you’re a developer from Amsterdam, visiting Amsterdam or live close by Amsterdam, then it would be great to see you at one of our meetups.

This group will hopefully provide a hub for Amsterdam’s diverse and thriving developer community to exchange ideas and keep up to date with the latest movements and shifts in software development.

This meetup group is for anyone interested in securing a software development lifecycle (DevSecOps). To deliver secure innovations and shift security left, organizations must commit to changes in skills, culture, technology and processes.

AmsterdamPHP

A english-speaking group for PHP Developers in and around Amsterdam. Our goal is to grow the local community, search for new developers and spread knowledge and resources.

Amsterdam is a very active technology center for the Netherlands, many companies and people from various countries have chosen this area to settle down and start their companies. PHP has a big role in this and for that reason we created a User Group focused on this area and in doing activities in english to acommodate all of these developers.

GOTO Nights Amsterdam

GOTO Nights are free community events brought to you by the GOTO Conference team. GOTO runs Software Developer Conferences each year in four international cities — Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen and Chicago.

Tech topics we are passionate about include Programming Languages and Frameworks (mostly back-end), Event-Driven Architecture, Microservices, Machine Learning, AI (& society), The Human Factor of Tech and IoT to name a few.

PyData provides a forum for the international community of users and developers of data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each other. The global PyData network promotes discussion of best practices, new approaches, and emerging technologies for data management, processing, analytics, and visualization. PyData communities approach data science using many languages, including (but not limited to) Python, Julia, and R.

Certainly, there are still plenty of meetups that I haven’t heard of. Feel free to answer to this post, I will gladly add them to the list. :)

Cheers,

Busra
