Are you a user of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Path and other internet services?

Has it occurred to you how they make money? How could they be as rich and successful as they are now? According to data from the Ministry of Communications and Information, yes those internet giants control 80% of digital advertising market in Indonesia, which is around US$640 million (Rp 8.31 trillion).

This Rp 8.31 trillion is only from Indonesia, not from other countries. With these data, it is said that the market of service-based technology platform is a “wetland” and it should be managed by Indonesian youth who will lead it to a new ecosystem of innovation. The government as the regulation holder may be able to support and create the rules that will make it easier for entrepreneurs to apply their revolutionary digital ideas and develop this country, especially in the economic sector.

Now, how will the fate of technology and innovation be in the future?

Would technology and innovation be eroded by foreign products and services? Can startup tech businesses survive and liberate themselves from the pressure of foreign products and services?
