It will come as a surprise to no one that Kim Kardashian’s 2024 Met Gala dress was controversial.

Normally the Kardashians don’t take up space in my brain but this dress really got me this week. Kim wore an organ-crushing corset that reduced her waist down to roughly the circumference of one of my thighs.

It looked painful and it was. During her filmed-for-Vogue dress rehearsal, someone off-camera asks her how’s the breathing?

Her reply:

It’s an art form.

She can barely draw breath. All so she can embody an extreme version of the most TikTokian of fashion trends.

Being snatched.

The word snatched has gone through a few meanings, but most recently, it’s used to describe a tiny, pulled-in waist. One that can only be achieved (if at all) by a combination of rigorous gym visits and that painful-looking shapewear that keeps following you around the internet.

That, or surgery.
