I spent five years of my life in an abusive relationship.

Every day, I was systematically broken down a little more until, eventually, I became a shell of the strong, confident woman I once had been.

Although I suffered immensely during that period in my life, I am one of the lucky ones.

I got out.

So many women are not as lucky as me.

For many domestic abuse victims, their lives end in murder. A horrendous, terrible end to a chilling and painful life.

And the end always evokes the question, “Why didn’t she leave?”

Yet even when she does, no one cares. Even when she is murdered, her life still isn’t taken seriously.

Stanislav Reshetnyak — domestic abuse, murder, and torture

In December 2020, a popular Russian YouTuber, Stanislav Reshetnyak murdered his pregnant girlfriend, Valentina Grigoryeva.

He regularly abused her and live streamed it to his followers, getting paid tips for his battery.
