BitClave is pleased to announce the first ever BitClave Active Search Ecosystem (BASE) developer hackathons. In two locations — one in Silicon Valley and one in Kyiv — you will have the chance team up with other blockchain and full stack developers to ideate and build a project (website, application, or anything else you can imagine) that utilizes the BASE API and platform.

The BASE Hackathon at Silicon Valley is an intensive, development-focused opportunity for hackers to create applications on the BASE platform. Teams with an initial idea for an application will spend just over a day developing their projects at the Silicon Valley Campus of event sponsor the CMU Information Networking Institute (INI). The program will conclude with demonstration presentations from all participants, with the BitClave team identifying the ten most promising projects. These top ten finishers will be entered automatically into the BitClave Developer Contest!

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories in Silicon Valley:

Best Overall Submission — 4,000 USD
Runner-Up Best Overall Submission — 2,000 USD
Third-Place Best Overall Submission — 1,000 USD
Best Submission by Students — 1,500 USD
Runner-Up Best Submission by Students — 500 USD
Most Original Use Case — 1,000 USD

What is BASE?

BASE is BitClave’s ecosystem that allows developers to leverage user data that is provided by said users. For example use cases and more information about BASE, head over to BitClave’s whitepaper.

*NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY. Open to legal residents of countries not under sanction by the OFAC who are physically present at the event and are at least age 18 (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence, whichever is older) at the time of entry. Void where prohibited. “Contest Period” is from 12:00:00pm PT on 8/25/18 through 4:00:00pm PT on 8/26/18. To enter: (1) Before 1:00:00pm (PT) on 8/25/18, visit the registration booth at Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley and register; (2) between 2:00:00pm (PT) on 8/25/18 and 1:00:00pm PT on 8/26/18, create an idea (website, application, and business use case) that utilizes the BASE API and/or platform and submit your idea’s source code as instructed for judging prior to 1:00:00pm PT on 8/26/18; and (3) present your idea and source code to judges on 8/26/18. You may enter as an individual or team (limit 1 entry per person); see Official Rules for full entry details. Each submission will be judged by a panel of Sponsor-selected judges based on the following criteria: (a) creativity and originality (25%); (b) likelihood of serving a user or business need (25%); © likelihood will be intuitive and easy to use (25%); and (d) likelihood will perform in a high-quality manner (25%). Best Overall Submission winner will get $4,000; Runner-Up Best Overall Submission winner will get $2,000; Third-Place Best Overall Submission winner will get $1,000; Best Submission by Students winner will get $1,500; Runner-Up Best Submission by Students winner will get $500. The Most Original Use Case winner will be awarded $1,000 (awarded based on the most original use of the BASE API (50%) and the most innovative Submission (50%). Top 10 Submissions will also receive automatic submission into the BitClave Developer Challenge. Odds of winning depend on number and quality of eligible entries.
