On Thursday, we announced the founding of the Bitcoin Bundesverband.
Bitcoin Bundesverband: Mission and Goals
Mission
The Bitcoin Bundesverband will primarily represent the interests of Bitcoin companies and take an active role in the political discourse around Bitcoin. We aim to influence the legal framework and positively shape its development. Members will have direct contact with political decision-makers.
Goals
- Networking: Promoting exchange within the Bitcoin community.
- Educational Offerings: Organizing events and providing educational resources to improve understanding of Bitcoin.
- Technical Innovation: Supporting research projects and collaborating with leading technology developers.
Bitcoin Bundesverband: Get Involved and Engage
Currently, there are 36 firm commitments for the founding of the association, including 13 individuals and 23 companies. The founding meeting will take place on September 26, 2024, in the Bundestag.
Board and Participation
There are currently 14 candidates for 7 board positions. Even if not everyone can take a board position, there are various opportunities to volunteer and take responsibility for specific topics.
Until then, some outstanding tasks will be finalized by the founding members (joining is possible at any time) in regular meetings, including the statutes, membership fee regulations, rules of procedure, and the appointment of the board.

After a year of preparation, I am particularly pleased with the positive feedback and numerous founding members. I am also delighted that individuals like Alex von Frankenberg, Marc Friedrich, and Joana Cotar will be founding members. Their work for Bitcoin in recent years has been an inspiration, not just for us, but for many. Thank you for that!

What is the Bitcoin Bundesverband?
The association represents the interests of its members, promotes acceptance and understanding of Bitcoin, and offers a platform for knowledge exchange, educational programs, and events.
Who can join?
Companies involved with Bitcoin can become founding members or apply for membership after the founding.
How do I become a member?

Is there a membership fee?
Yes, the membership fee for founding members in the first year is 0.0021 Bitcoin. Fees for other members will be determined at the founding meeting.
Can I support without becoming a member?
Yes, the association can be supported through donations and volunteer work. Bitcoin donations are currently accepted on-chain, with Lightning to follow soon: bc1q5lykes0r5hdgtxp2we935jyqzdkch63s5u8c69.
Will there be collaborations?
Yes, we plan to collaborate with other associations and educational institutions to achieve common goals.
Benefits of membership?
Members receive lobbying support, can appear as speakers, participate in workshops and events for free, and receive regular updates.
Is it possible to join anonymously?
Privacy is respected, but certain personal information is required for membership, which will be handled securely and confidentially.
Where do meetings and events take place?
Events will be held at various locations in Germany, especially in Berlin. Locations and dates will be announced on the website and on social networks (Telegram, X and LinkedIn).
Active engagement?
