If You Get Bored With Weights Workouts, Try This
A Bite-Sized Workout Tip!
I want to share the workout program that I’ve managed to follow now for years, having bounced around programs for decades.
Before that, I never really got the consistency that I needed.
With my program now no two workouts are the same... except they are.
- I have three choices of exercises for each body part.
- I do seven exercises each workout
- I do this full body routine three or four times a week.
Why like this? Well at my age, 48, I don’t feel beaten up anymore when I do things that way, whereas when I do ‘legs day’ or ‘chest and shoulders day’, I just couldn’t recover from that amount of volume.
This structure works brilliantly if you:
- find you get bored very easily and therefore can’t stay consistent.
- find that your gym is so busy you get pissed off when you can’t do all the prescribed exercises you wanted to do that day.
For me, having a bit of variety each time makes me feel empowered.
I am choosing what exercises I do each and every time. So on the one hand:
- I have this Grown-Up structure that I need to get anywhere with my workouts, but
- I also have that flexibility to choose any one of 3 exercises for each body part each time, so I don’t get bored.
What do you think? Does that sound like a style of workout you could stick with to get in shape as you get older?
