Hello fellow #Blockathon cats, lets get you rolling with all you need to participate in the DAO #Blockathon experiment

The experiment will have 2 main parts:

1. Onboard yourself to the DAO #Blockathon

2. Submit your #Blockathon team’s project proposal and participate in voting on projects.

Part 1 — Onboard yourself to the DAO:

In this post, we won’t go into depth of what DAOs are and what amazing things they enable, the team at DAOstack as well as other teams provide comprehensive content and you can read up in through their content. We’ll also not focus on security aspect of using decentralized tech, use this guide at your own risk ⚠️⚠️⚠️

After we’re done with these disclaimers, let’s get to the steps required to onboard yourself to the experimental #Blockathon DAO that’s currently running through DAOstack’s Alchemy platform.

At any step, feel free to ask questions about the steps and products mentioned in this tutorial by jumping into the chat on bitfwd community (bitfwd.com) Telegram channel at: t.me/bitfwd and asking a friendly cryptocat.

Here are the list of products you’d need to follow this tutorial:

Ingredients

  1. Web Browser: 🔥🦊 Firefox of Mozilla is my recommendation but you can also use Brave or Chrome.
  2. Metamask: 🦊 This is a web browser plugin that makes your browser compatible with Web3 supported sites and serves as your browser wallet.
  3. ETH: ⛓💰 You’ll need a small amount of ETH to pay your gas fees as you submit your proposal to the Ethereum Blockchain.
  4. Twitter account: 🐥 This is optional though, it’s recommended as this is a way to publicly demonstrate your social proof. LinkedIn and many other networks force people to be signed in when they want to see posts published by others.
  5. Telegram or Discord: 💬 These are optional, but they will be very useful because a the discussions related to this experiment will take place mostly on bitfwd’s Telegram channel at (t.me/bitfwd) .

Prepare your join + reputation request from the #Blockathon DAO:

We’ll break it into steps, as mentioned, feel free to reach out on bitfwd community Telegram. If you find the order doesn’t make sense to you, feel free to carve your independent path.

  1. Use twitter to write share a reputation request following this format:

Requesting Rep on the @blocumenta Art #Blockathon DAO This is a Social Identity Verification Tweet #SIVT a la @daostack “ <insert name your favorite artist> is the GOAT”

.@bitfwdxyz 🐨⏩🌈

2. Post the link to your tweet to bitfwd Telegram.

3.1 Assuming you’ve set up your Metamask and have a small fraction of ETH loaded on your account you’re good to skip this step, otherwise, if you need an ETH airdrop, tweet a 2nd tweet as a comment to your first one with this message:

Airdrop request for some GEN+ETH: plz @linkdrop me some @DAOstack tokens baby “<insert code word given by #Blockathon team member>”

.@bitfwdxyz 🐨⏩🌈

@blocumenta Art #Blockathon DAO

3.2 Share this tweet link in the Telegram channel.

3.3 You should receive an airdrop claim link from the #Blockathon team.

We should finally be ready to start the proposal submission!

4. Using your browser, head over to #Blockathon DAO on Alchemy (DAOstack’s DAOs portal). Be sure you’ve got the right DAO, the display name is bitfwd blockathon.

5. Start a new proposal by clicking the “+ New Proposal” button at the top right of the screen.

6. Fill in the fields of the proposal as shown in the screen:

(6.0.1 Ask for only 50 Rep and avoid for ETH or other token reward besides Rep in this stage as it the members of the DAO will likely fail it :)

6.1 Reputation Request: Your Name.

6.2 Short description to your request.

6.3 Paste your 1st tweet link.

6.4 Paste your dedicated Metamask ETH address.

6.5 Insert ‘50’ (that’s the current convention) at the Reputation reward field, leave all other reward fields at ‘0’.

6.6 Press submit. You’ll then be required to approve the transaction using your Metamask and pay the associated gas fees.

Next, existing #Blockathon DAO members who have reputation can vote on your proposal and discuss it. You can paste the link to your proposal to bitfwd Telegram and it will prompt people to vote.

Part 2. Submitting your #Blockathon team’s project proposal and participate in voting on projects.

Now that you’re either a #Blockathon DAO native, or at least your reputation request is in it’s way to be boosted, lets get to the project submission and the fun part!

0. Make sure you’ve shared your project details on Devpost:

https://blocumenta-blockathon2019.devpost.com/

  1. Now the interesting part begin:
  2. Submit a proposal in a similar way to the one you’ve submitted in Part 1 with the following input fields:

2.1 Title — Your projects name (e.g. Mona Lizard).

2.2 Description — Tagline and a brief explantation.

2.3 URL — Link to your Devpost submission.

2.4 Recipient — your Metamask address

2.5 ETH Reward: Nominate what you believe you should receive, if you reckon your project is gonna win 🥇 1st place, we recommend to request ~2.5ETH, if 🥈 We recommend to request ~1.5 ETH, if you reckon you should receive a small amount for soemthing else, get creative, it’s the #Blockathon DAO and we’re open minded 🌈

3. Tweet the link to your DAO proposal (the one on Alchemy) and follow the format:

Submitted “<insert your project’s name>”

to @blocumenta Art #Blockathon to the DAO on .@DAOstack

.@bitfwdxyz 🐨⏩🌈

4. Share your tweet in bitfwd Telegram.

What happens next is: existing #Blockathon DAO members who have reputation can vote on your proposal and discuss it over the Telegram channels or in person.

Good luck, if you read till hear you’re very very deep down the rabbit hole!!!
