GNT to migrate to ERC-20 standard and change its name to GLM
ในวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 18 กุมภาพันธ์ 2564 เวลา 00.01 น. (เที่ยงคืนหนึ่งนาที) Bitkub จะทำการปิดระบบฝาก ถอน เทรด สำหรับเหรียญ GNT เพื่อทำการ Swap เหรียญ GNT เป็น GLM ในอัตรา 1:1
ระบบจะเปิดให้ฝากและถอนเหรียญ GLM ในวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 18 กุมภาพันธ์ 2564 เวลา 11.00 น. ส่วนระบบเทรด GLM จะใช้งานได้ในวันศุกร์ที่ 19 กุมภาพันธ์ 2564 เวลา 11.30 น. โดยหลังจากเปิดให้บริการเหรียญ GLM แล้ว เหรียญ GNT จะไม่สามารถใช้งานบนกระดานเทรด Bitkub ได้อีก

ทำไม GNT ถึงเปลี่ยนเป็น GLM?
Golem เปิดตัวเหรียญ GNT ในปี 2016 ซึ่ง ณ ตอนนั้นมาตรฐาน ERC-20 ของ Ethereum ยังไม่เป็นที่นิยมใช้กันอย่างแพร่หลายนัก Golem จึงตัดสินใจใช้มาตรฐานเหรียญของตัวเองแต่ยังสร้างบน Ethereum ต่อมา เมื่อเครือข่าย Ethereum เติบโตขึ้น มาตรฐาน ERC-20 จึงถูกใช้เป็นวงกว้างโดยบรรดา DeFi ต่างๆ เพื่อให้ Golem สามารถทำงานร่วมกับ DeFi ต่างๆบน Ethereum ได้อย่างคล่องตัว จึงตัดสินใจสร้างแพลตฟอร์มใหม่เพิ่มขึ้นบน Layer 2 ของ Ethereum และเปลี่ยนไปใช้ smart contract address ใหม่สำหรับเหรียญ GLM ซึ่งก็คือ 0x7DD9c5Cba05E151C895FDe1CF355C9A1D5DA6429
ด้วยเหตุนี้ Golem จึงตัดสินใจปรับปรุงมาตรฐานเหรียญให้เป็น ERC-20 ที่รองรับกับการทำงานบน Ethereum Layer 2 ได้อย่างราบรื่น และเปลี่ยนชื่อเหรียญจาก GNT เป็น GLM
GLM ต่างกับ GNT อย่างไร?
เหรียญใหม่ GLM จะใช้มาตรฐาน ERC-20 เหมือนกับหลาย ๆ เหรียญที่อยู่ในเครือข่ายของ Ethereum ไม่ว่าจะเป็น USDT (Tether), DAI, OmiseGO (OMG), หรือ Basic Attention Token (BAT) เป็นต้น การเปลี่ยนมาตรฐานเป็น ERC-20 จะทำให้การทำงานร่วมกับ DeFi ต่างๆบนเครือข่าย Ethereum เช่น การแลกเหรียญ หรือการกู้ยืมผ่าน DeFi เป็นไปได้อย่างราบรื่นยิ่งขึ้น
หน้าที่ของเหรียญ GLM
Golem คือผู้ให้บริการ “เช่า” พลังประมวลผลของซูเปอร์คอมพิวเตอร์ผ่านอินเทอร์เน็ตแบบกระจายศูนย์ (Decentralized) ทำให้นักพัฒนาหรือผู้ให้บริการสามารถยืมพลังประมวลผลผ่านอินเทอร์เน็ตได้โดยไม่ต้องผ่านตัวกลางใด ๆ ขณะที่เหรียญ GLM มีหน้าที่เป็นตัวกลางในการแลกเปลี่ยนบริการดังกล่าวบนแพลตฟอร์มของ Golem
Layer 2 ของ Ethereum คืออะไร?
เนื่องจากบล็อกเชนหลัก หรือ Layer 1 ของ Ethereum ประสบปัญหาการประมวลผลที่ล่าช้า โดยเฉพาะในช่วงที่มีจำนวนธุรกรรมสูง ๆ ทางผู้พัฒนาของ Ethereum จึงสร้างอีกเครือข่ายแยกออกมา เรียกว่า Ethereum Layer 2 เพื่อให้แอปพลิเคชันบางประเภทสามารถประมวลผลบนนี้ได้ ก่อนที่จะรวบรวมข้อมูลธุรกรรมที่เกิดขึ้นและส่งไปยังบล็อกเชนหลัก ข้อดีของการสร้างแพลตฟอร์มบน Layer 2 คือ ลดภาระของบล็อกเชนหลัก ประมวลผลเร็วขึ้น เข้าถึง Dapp หรือ DeFi ได้มากขึ้น และลดค่าธรรมเนียม (Gas fee)

GNT to migrate to ERC-20 standard and change its name to GLM
On 18th February 2021 (Thursday), 00.01AM (GMT+7) Bitkub will temporarily suspend deposit, withdrawal, and trading for GNT in order to swap GNT to GLM at 1:1 ratio.
GLM will be opened for deposit and withdrawal on 18th February 2021 (Thursday), 11.00AM (GMT+7), while the trading system for GLM will be available on 19th February 2021 (Friday), 11.30AM (GMT+7). Please note that after GLM is available on Bitkub, GNT will be invalid on the platform.

Why does GNT change its name to GLM?
Golem (GNT) was founded in 2016. During the time of its creation, the ERC-20 standard was not widely adopted, so the developers behind GNT decided to create the project on Ethereum but used their own standard. However, as Ethereum is getting more and more attention in recent years, its network and ERC-20 standards were used by most DeFi. In order for Golem to interact flawlessly with other DeFi, the developers decided to create a new platform on Ethereum Layer 2 and adopt a new smart contract address: 0x7DD9c5Cba05E151C895FDe1CF355C9A1D5DA6429
As reasons stated above, Golem migrated GNT to ERC-20 standard and changed its abbreviation from GNT to GLM.
What is the difference between GNT and GLM?
The new GLM is ERC-20 standard similar to most cryptocurrency on Ethereum ecosystem, for examples; USDT (Tether), DAI, OmiseGO (OMG), or Basic Attention Token (BAT), etc. The migration to ERC-20 standard allows Golem to interact seamlessly with other DeFi on Ethereum such as exchange, loan, etc.
What is the role of GLM?
Golem is the decentralized platform where developers or business providers could “borrow” computation power from supercomputers through the internet without requiring a third party provider. GLM is the currency used to exchange for services on Golem’s platform.
What is Ethereum Layer 2?
The processing speed of the main Ethereum network (Layer 1) often performs poorly during high traffic. The developers behind Ethereum decided to build a second layer for Ethereum called Layer 2 where DApps or DeFi could process transactions independently from Layer 1 before sending the already-processed information to the main blockchain. The benefits of Layer 2 includes: reducing stress on the main network, faster processing time, accessibility to more dApps, and lower gas fee.
