ENS คืออะไร?
ENS หรือ Ethereum Name Service คือโปรโตคอลที่สร้างขึ้นบนเครือข่าย Ethereum โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปลี่ยน Address ที่ดูยุ่งเหยิงให้เป็นชื่อโดเมนที่มนุษย์สามารถอ่านและเข้าใจได้ง่าย เช่น เปลี่ยน 0x32be3…02d91 เป็น alice.eth
ขณะที่โทเคน ENS คือโทเคนมาตรฐาน ERC-20 ที่ทำหน้าที่เป็น Governance token หรือโทเคนที่มอบสิทธิ์ให้ผู้ถือสามารถมีส่วนร่วมกับการบริหารโปรโตคอล ENS แบบ DAO หมายความว่า ยิ่งถือเยอะ ก็ยิ่งมีสิทธิ์ในการออกเสียงเพื่อช่วยพัฒนา ENS มากขึ้นนั่นเอง
การทำให้ชื่อที่แสดงบนบล็อกเชนเป็นชื่อที่มนุษย์สามารถทำความเข้าใจได้ง่าย แทนที่จะเป็นรหัสที่ดูวุ่นวาย เช่น หากต้องการโอนเงินให้เพื่อน แทนที่จะใส่ Address เต็ม อย่าง 0x32be3…02d9 เราสามารถโอนไปที่ alice.eth แทน ถือเป็นอีกก้าวสู่การ Mass adoption หรือการใช้งานอย่างแพร่หลายของเทคโนโลยีบล็อกเชน
Ethereum Name Service ทำงานอย่างไร?
หากผู้ใช้ต้องการเป็นเจ้าของชื่อโดเมน ผู้ใช้สามารถค้นหาชื่อโดเมนที่ต้องการผ่านเว็บไซต์ ENS หากเป็นชื่อที่มีการลงทะเบียนไว้แล้ว ผู้ใช้สามารถร่วมประมูลเพื่อเป็นเจ้าของชื่อโดเมน (หากเปิดให้ประมูล) หรือสามารถเช่าเป็นระยะเวลาตามที่ต้องการได้ หากเป็นชื่อโดเมนที่ยังไม่ได้ลงทะเบียน ผู้ใช้ก็สามารถแจ้งขอลงทะเบียนชื่อลงบน ENS ได้เช่นกัน
ชื่อโดเมนในที่นี้จะถูกแทนด้วยโทเคนประเภท NFT เพื่อให้สะดวกต่อการซื้อขายหรือโอนระหว่างผูัใช้
เมื่อผู้ใช้เป็นเจ้าของชื่อหรือเช่ามาแล้ว ผู้ใช้สามารถตั้งค่าให้ชื่อโดเมนนั้นถูกใช้แทน Address ที่ต้องการ ผ่านโปรโตคอลของ ENS ได้เลย
ทั้งนี้ ค่าใช้จ่ายที่เกิดขึ้น ตัวโปรโตคอล ENS จะคำนวณให้โดยอัตโนมัติ ยิ่งเป็นชื่อที่มีคนต้องการมากเท่าไหร่ ค่าใช้จ่ายก็อาจสูงมากขึ้นเท่านั้น

What is ENS?

Making the display names on blockchain easy to understand for individuals, instead of an obfuscated code,is considered as another step towards mass adoption or widespread adoption of blockchain technology. For example, if you want to transfer money to a friend, instead of entering a full address like 0x32be3…02d9, you can simply transfer it to alice.eth.
How does Ethereum Name Service work?
If the user wants to own the domain name, users can search for the domain name of their choice through the ENS website in the case that it is already registered. Users can bid to own the domain name (if open for action) or lease it for a desired period of time. However, for an unregistered domain name, users can request to register their name on the ENS as well.
The domain names here are represented by NFT (Non-fungible tokens) to facilitate trading or transfer between users.
When the user owns or rents the name, users can configure the domain name to be used as the desired address through the ENS protocol.
The cost incurred is calculated automatically by the ENS protocol. The more people want the name, the cost could only be higher.
Who are the creators of the ENS?
The developer of the Ethereum Name Service protocol is True Names LTD, a Singapore-based non-profit organisation. The development of ENS started in 2018 with the aim of creating a protocol that forms part of the infrastructure for the internet of the future.
Nick Johnson was one of the key players in the development of ENS as Founder & Lead Developer, where he has previously worked with Google as a Senior Software Engineer and the Ethereum Foundation as a Software Engineer.
