In our mission to provide access to clean energy and bring financial inclusion to the rural population, we have identified Latin America as our initial market which is most underserved and least competitive among other developing nations.
Our journey has already begun and is currently in the testing phase in Guatemala. The solar devices have already been started to get deployed and we have identified the first set of agents who will be leasing and installing them in the customers’ homes.
Following are the three key milestones we are targeting for the coming months as we get ready to launch our ICO -
- Deployment of 100 off grid solar devices — We have partnered with Greenlight (Solar manufacturer) who will be shipping the 100 off grid solar devices in Guatemala by May. The pilot is already underway as we speak, and the solar units are integrated with a pay-as-you-go system. We are also already training the agents who will be the distributors of the devices and act as a link between BitLumens and its customers.
- 2. Including the software with the device — We plan to integrate the software that will power the devices by May. This is the most crucial aspect for the system to work. With the software integration, there will be seamless transfer of BLS tokens which acts as fuel for the hardware to run. Each hardware that will be distributed and installed by our agents will be functional once the agent purchases the BLS tokens after receiving payment from the customer.
- Deployment of IoT — We expect to have the smart meter ready in the second trimester as we plan to create a peer to peer network for power exchange without the need of having a power grid. The smart meter will inform the user how much power has been produced, consumed and stored into the battery which can be traded in exchange for tokens. In addition, during the second trimester of 2018 sensors will be added to the solar home system to allow verification of carbon mitigation.
As we get ready to launch our ICO next month, we will be regularly updating with the progress of the project and the pilot which will be in sync with the above milestones.
