How does a game work?

If you ever played a game you’ve most probably understood they have a few common treats.

First — you have an avatar, a role, a persona through which you play the game.

The persona could be a fantasy character, a sports team, a vehicle, a battle commander.

This persona has skills, traits, abilities that makes her more or less capable of facing the challenges ahead.

These are agility, charisma, intelligence, offensive and defensive capabilities, battle armor, special weapon, large engine.

Then you have objectives or quests.

The quests could be — kill the enemy hero, save the kingdom, marry the prince, win the match, stop the enemy, rescue the hostages, slay the boss.

Also you have resistance. The more the resistance — the more challenging the quests. The more challenging the quests — the less amount of players would be able to accomplish them.

The most challenging quests are also those with the greatest rewards.

In the most interesting of games you also have teammates and allies with their own personal traits and abilities which compliment and boost your own. You create a team. You play together and share the experience.

All games end. When the game ends — you actually realize that nothing of the above mattered. All that mattered was how much love, laughter, pleasure, joy and happiness you had while playing.

Welcome to your life.

Game on.
