That’s basically a system of thinking(or philosophy) that tries to explain how reality should function in order to find a potential route to creating a paradise on earth. It’s also one of the most dangerous things in the world.

Ideology sounds good on paper, but doesn’t match reality. It’s a delusion. The problem is that some delusions can be really deadly.

German Nazism told us that the root of all problems are the people that are different than us. The Jews, the sick, the elderly. There was the ideal of the clean Aryan race that would bring the golden age of mankind. They just had to kill everyone else in order to achieve it. World war 2 followed with millions of deaths.

Communism told us that the root of all problem are the rich people. The bourgeois, the wealthy, the landowners and producers. There was the ideal of the worker class who got all the results of their labor and everyone was fed and happy. They just had to kill everyone productive and wealthy in order to achieve it (and take their property). The result is 20 million deaths in Russia and over 100 mil in the whole world.

Ideology is like the tower of Babel in the Bible. A structure that tries to reach to the gods but crumbles in ashes and splits humanity as a result.

All of us have our own little ideologies that we cling into. Structures that we believe explain reality, until they don’t.

A good exercise is to take a belief that you have — a thing that you’re absolutely sure it’s true and check to search for evidence that points out that it’s not. Try to brake your own towers before reality does it for you. And before you create any real harm in the world.

Ask yourself “Can I really be that blind and delusional?”

Yes you can. I know I am.
