1. I’m all about that content boss

  • Not all is well at Bloomberg as it appears that the experiment to create a fledging digital media division is over after reports have surfaced that web chief Joshua Topolsky, founder of The Verge and before that editor of Engadget, is leaving amidst increase tension with Mr Bloomberg himself. It seems many staffers were unprepared for the level of micromanagement Mr Bloomberg introduced upon his active return to the company going as far as directing on air talent. This further illustrate the challenge for converting old media companies and their traditional structure to digital media successes.

2. Tech Roundup

  • Ellen Pao has resigned from her post as CEO of Reddit. A volunteer-led firestorm that started after the firing of a popular talent director culminated in her departure. Co-founfer Steve Huffman will take over as the site’s new CEO. In her resignation letter, she cites the recent controversy as well as the inability to meet user growth goals set by the board within 6 months. This continues to demonstrate how difficult it still is to monetize big and entrenched communities like Reddit who depend on volunteers for their operation.

3. Game Roundup

  • Whenever you mention N64 Goldeneye to thirty and forty year olds, you can see a twinkle in their eyes followed soon after by a smile. It remains for many of us one of the best multiplayer shooters till this day. So in that honor, here is a listen to the soundtrack.
