New Feature: Equivalent Domains

We’ve added a new feature to all of our applications that allows you to associate a login to multiple different sources. We call it Equivalent Domains.

For example, the same login credentials that you use to log into Apple.com can also be used to log into iCloud.com. Previously, bitwarden recognized both of these cases as different websites entirely. If your login was saved under Apple.com, features like auto-fill would not recognize iCloud.com as the same organization and you would have to find the login manually in your vault.

We’ve solved this problem for you in two ways: Global and Custom equivalent domains. Whenever you log into the web vault, you will now find a new page under Settings -> Domain Rules.

Web vault: Settings -> Domain Rules

Here you can see a list of global equivalent domain configurations that we have already set up for you. Global domains cover many popular services such as Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, etc. You can choose to disable or modify any of these global configurations. You can also add your own configurations that are not covered by the global options.

Please let us know if you have any feedback on equivalent domains. Enjoy!
