2020 has proven to be a year of change. It is changing the way we work, the way we learn, and our daily routines. The AtBot team has embraced this change and are working harder than ever to bring AI solutions to this ever evolving, distributed work environment.

This update includes features that address some of our most popular customer requests. There are 3 main updates which all affect custom bots, and especially bots in Microsoft Teams.

Default Message Skill

When a user says something that your bot does not understand, you can now assign a skill (flow) to be triggered in AtBot Admin.

This feature can be used to send your user queries to an alternate service for processing and answering, or you can launch into a skill that will help the user submit a support ticket for the issue the bot can’t handle.

This feature replaces the use of the AtBot Admin trigger “when the default message is sent”.

Optionally Remove Login Requirement in Teams

You may now configure an Enterprise Bot to not require a user login when the bot is loaded into Teams. This removes that barrier between the user and the bot and makes it a much more seamless experience for the user.

Login will still be required for Enterprise Bots outside of Teams (Direct Line) and users will still need to log in to the tab in Teams if the bot pushes any content to a tab.

Load Your Bot in to Any Team

In the past, Enterprise Bots had to be loaded into the Teams environment that belonged to the O365 tenant that AtBot was configured for. With the login requirement removed, your bots may now be loaded into any Teams environment.

This means you can now build and manage bots for your customers in your environment and deploy them to their environment. Easily build out an IT support bot that can create service requests when a customer is having an issue. All of the resources used (flow, QnA, LUIS) will be maintained and controlled by the originating tenant.

Looking Toward the Next Update

The AtBot team is hard at work, building new features and functionality for the next update coming in about a month. Look forward to a completely reworked AtBot Admin connector in Power Automate and Logic Apps as well as a new live person hand-off action. The live hand-off is a highly requested feature and we are really excited to bring that to our customers!
