Are You Haunted By Your Past?

March Madness Writing Challenge Day 31

I’m sure none of us have lived a perfect life, and we all have things in our past we are not proud of. I can honestly say that my past does not haunt me, but once in a while it rears it’s ugly head.

When that happens I have to remind myself that it is done and over with, and that I am a different person than I was then. I keep myself focused on what is ahead of me.

I try to avoid reminders, and people who will do the reminding. When I am reminded of something from my past, I never speak it out loud. I ignore the reminder and stay in the present. It is amazing how the tiniest thing can bring back a bad memory and leave us stuck there dwelling on it.

There are many ways to stay constructive in the present and move forward when something from the past is holding us back. I write, draw, paint, listen to music, clean the house, or do something that benefits me today.

My creative outlets benefit me the most. It is when I feel the most content with who I am today.

I hope you have outlets, and ways to move forward in life. I hope your past doesn’t haunt you. Stay focused on the road ahead, not the road behind.

Thanks for reading. Please clap and comment to let me know you were here.
