If I Was a Plant, I’d Be a Rose…

Day 20 of Keeley’s writing challenge

Here are some of the roses I grew in “my” garden Photos by author

Did you know I’d be a rose? It’s no secret that I love roses. Give me roses for my birthday, and you’ve won my heart. Not really! But if you give me roses for no reason at all or just because you were thinking of me when you drove past the rose farm, I’ll love you forever — maybe not forever but for a long time!

Here’s a couple I picked and enjoyed inside.

So, if I had to be a plant, I’d be a rose bush — very pretty to look at and heaven to sniff, but watch out, if you rub me the wrong way I may prick you hard, not the other way around. I have a few thorns so be careful in the way you handle me. Kid gloves may not be enough…

Here I am at a rose farm in the Cameron Highlands, Malaysia 20 years ago.

I think I’d like to be this rose bush. It’s tall, has large flowers and guess what it smells like — whisky! Yes, it’s the WHISKY ROSE… that’s what I wanna be!

What plant would you like to be?
