We started this challenge together at the end of January with honesty: Love is hard. It’s also awesome. It’s everything, but it isn’t easy and it hurts sometimes. Valentine’s Day forgets all that. It ignores the pain we feel or have felt; the losses we’ve endured in the name of love are… lost.
But that doesn’t mean that we don’t celebrate love. Hell, that means we celebrate all the morer because at the end of the day, we still show up for love.
All of the hurt that affects us, that affects the way we love and the way we want to love, all of it doesn’t keep us from choosing to try, even in small ways, again and again.
Why?
Because it’s worth it to love and be loved.
BJ knows that love is so much bigger than love shared with one other human. Y’all have shared your big, big loves: for pets, for children and grandchildren, for all of the greats, for parents, for sports, for stuffed animals, for chocolate, for ourselves and our bros and gal-pals…
…for things that are thick and thin…
