A conversation boost with Dropins

Instead of telling you that we just released Dropins to Blab, I thought we’d let you know how Dropins are being used after being out for over a week.

Dropins let you drop in a link to anything in an empty square in your Blab.

Over a third of Blabs are utilizing the Dropin feature.

How does it work?

Try it out by dropping in a link to an empty seat in a Blab you’re hosting.

Why did we create Dropins?

Whether it’s listening to music, watching videos, laughing at vines, or learning from a Slideshare — Dropins is a natural next step to see what happens when we all do things together.

With a product like Blab, we are “Live”, which means we are all in the same place at the same time. Seeing and hearing the same things. Being together.

With Blab, it’s not about what you did. It’s about what you’re doing…right now, with all the other people in the room.

How are people using Dropins so far?

Well, they’ve been pretty creative with it so far. We’ve seen karaoke, breaking news live streamed in from YouTube with group commentary, dance parties, meditation classes, watching sports together, and this is only the beginning.

You can use Dropins to share YouTube videos, Soundcloud songs, Slideshare presentations, or links to websites into the box.

Unlisted Blabs

One of the most requested features has been the ability to host private Blabs. Unlisted Blabs will be available to anyone with the link generated for your Blab.

How does it work?

  1. You need a link to get into the Blab.
  2. Notifications do not go out.

Why did we create unlisted?

One of the things great about Blab is it has given you the ability to find your people. Blab is a great place to have a conversation with a group of people.

All Blabs were happening in public, and it wasn’t for ALL conversations. By adding unlisted, Blabs are now for everyone.

  • Planning your best friend’s going away party.
  • An internal team meeting.
  • Watch party with your friends.
