Self Discipline In Addiction
The answer you’ve been looking for
Disclaimer: there’s no empathy here. I’ve self-pitied too long.
“Stop crying wolf. You don’t need that help.
When you think ‘relapse’, what do you see? Aren’t those just failed attempts at self-control?
You won’t like what I say but’ll hear it anyway.
No one can help you if you don’t want that help! Why don’t you do everyone a favour and fuck off with your victimization? Look at you. Ask yourself, that smoke, those drugs, are you ready to let that go?
Is your answer no? Then truly, fuck off. You don’t need help. Stop asking. Stop making people run around trying to help you. Stop being a selfish asshole and continue your habit.
But we both know your answer’s not no. It’s yes. You’re ready to let that go. Here’s the answer you’ve been waiting for: let it go. You can!
That’s all you have to do. Continuously choose to let it go until it stops surfacing.
Addiction is not a real word. It’s the enemy of self-help. You don’t need a priest to lay hands on you. You don’t need rehab to seclude you. All you need is a tough conversation with yourself.
