A relationship is toxic when your well-being is threatened in some way — emotionally, psychologically, and even physically.

IN THE PAST

May 15, 2022 was the middle of Mental Health Awareness Month. I wrote an article about toxic relationships and the effect they have on people who suffer from mental illness. There are 10 signs that your relationship is toxic. Some of them are feeling disrespected, devalued and depleted. Giving more than you’re getting. Feeling unsupported, demeaned, attacked and misunderstood. You are supposedly always to blame. To name a few. See my article for the complete list.

To further summarize the article, a toxic relationship can be worse for a person who is bipolar or suffers from depression. At the time that I wrote the article, I didn’t know that I was going to be diagnosed as bipolar later that year. I had been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) but had no idea that I was Bipolar 2. See this article I wrote about what it’s like to live…

I write about mental health and fiction, mostly dystopian. Imaginatively unusual is preferable but not always possible for me.
