“You really like it?” my mom asked for the fifteenth time.

“Yes, I’ve told you 100 times, I love it!” I lied through my teeth.

“Okay, well if you don’t, I have the receipt,” she continued.

“Hmmm,” I paused. I had to think very carefully about whether or not I should ask her to hand it over. The wrong decision could have bad consequences.

My father glared at me.

I kept the gift.

No Hard Feelings

We lie. Don’t lie and say you don’t lie, you do. We all do.

Recently a close family member actually said the words “I’ve never lied” during a heated debate.

She lied.

We can’t help ourselves. If we don’t tell a fib or a little white lie, there’s a good chance we will hurt someone's feelings. And no one wants to be that sh**ty during the holidays.
