The Conference Presenter I Will Never Forget
In just two hours, I learned an invaluable life lesson
Over my 25 years of professional work in advocacy and communications, I’ve attended numerous work-related conferences.
The allure, I suppose, is in the chance to connect with others in a location that’s not where you typically work.
I’d say “exotic” or interesting, but in most cases, the conferences I attend are in midsize cities. Or, sometimes, Washington, DC.
The presentations are usually vaguely interesting. Even the ones where I’m a panelist.
And, yes, there are connections to be made — new ways of looking at things.
But, after a while, all the presentations run together. Some people are great presenters, most are ok, and some are really, really boring.
This particular conference was different.
First, it was in Las Vegas. There’s definitely an “always on” energy there. And they don’t call it “Sin City” for nothing.
Second, I encountered a conference presenter I will never forget.
She was engaging and dynamic. She stood outside the door to the hall where she was presenting and greeted people.
