A recent Rasmussen study went under the radar in most media. Yet, it is worth paying attention to, since it paints an unflattering portrait of what our future could look like. But be on the lookout, as it could send shivers down your spine.

The Elite 1%

While conducting its weekly national surveys in the U.S., Rasmussen noticed an anomaly: the most radical responses came from people who held graduate degrees, had a yearly family income above $150,000, and lived in large urban centers. To add to this demographic profile, 67% are between 35 and 54 years old, 86% are white and 73% are Democrats.

When Rasmussen’s team combined the responses from more than 20 surveys, it quickly realized that the categories of people cited above constituted an elite comprising 1% of the American population. The polling firm subsequently conducted a national survey of only people who were identified as being part of this group; the results were quite shocking, if not frightening.

Democracy and Freedom of Speech Thrown Into the Dustbin of History

The gap between the opinions of this elite and the rest of America is striking.

The first column of the temple that could ultimately collapse is that of individual freedoms, the architectural pillar of the Western republic. While 57% of U.S. respondents surveyed by Rasmussen believe that there is not enough freedom in their country, only 21% of members of the elite agree with this statement. And if only 16% of these respondents believe that there is too much freedom in America, 47% of the elite think it is the case.

Now, what about the cornerstone of democracy as such? The answer: part of the elite doesn’t give a damn about your right to vote. That is, 35% of its members say that they would rather cheat than lose a close election. Among average Americans, 93% reject cheating.

A Class War

Since members of the elite are prone to co-opt each other, it is not surprising that 70% of them trust the government, at a time when an increasing number of Americans (and most Westerners) are showing pessimism and cynicism towards their elected officials. These figures bear this out: only 6% of respondents from the middle and lower classes say they have a very favorable view of members of Congress, compared to 69% among the elite.

And since the media have become watchdogs of left-wing governments, the elite gives them a lot of credit. Thus, if only 10% of American voters have a favorable opinion of journalists, this figure rises to 71% among members of the elite. Same story with university professors, who are accused of indoctrinating young people with far-left propaganda: only 17% of Americans have a good opinion of them, while the figure is 76% among members of the elite.

Let’s now check out the most frightening part of Rasmussen’s survey, which concerns the climate issue: 77% of the members of the elite would like to impose strict restrictions and rationing on the private use of gas, as well as on the consumption of meat and electricity. That’s not all: 72% are in favor of banning gasoline vehicles, while 69% would like to see gas stoves banned.

Want more? Prepare to cringe: 58% of members of the upper classes favor banning sport utility vehicles, and 55% nonessential air travel. Finally, 53% would like to see governments ban private air conditioning.

Let’s recall that it is those members of the elite who dominate politics, academia, the media, the judiciary, intelligence agencies, large foundations, international organizations, and most large corporations. So do you get a sense of how dark your future is likely to become?
