“Open Up Your Hips, Open Up Your Heart”
There is much to know about the abdominal/pelvic region. All bodily systems intersect in this region, and are supported by the largest bones in the body. It is simultaneously an area of great structural stability and vulnerability. We are born protecting our abdomens in the fetal position, and continue to guard it from stress throughout our adult lives. As a result, this protective mechanism is often manifested in muscular tension, stomach issues, and overall poor posture.
These symptoms can be improved through reeducating and stretching the muscle fibers. When we open up this area through massage and stretching, we release the tension of muscles in this area that often cause chronic issues such as low back pain and neck pain. Abdominal massage also aids in proper digestion as it helps alleviate conditions such as constipation, bloating and gas. We are then able to counterbalance the spine which in turn, leads to an improved posture.
When we open up our hips, we allow our bodies to become more aware of our insecurities as we often times are working through an area of discomfort or uncertainty. When we open up our chest, we are opening up our hearts and allowing ourselves to open up in our own bodies, and allow ourselves to feel joy and abundance. This in turn, will lead to a positive outlook on life, self, and the people we encounter in our daily interactions.
Namaste y’all!
