An eye-opening film titled Nike Profits: Kangaroos Die reveals the shocking truth behind soccer shoes manufactured using kangaroo leather aka “K-leather.” The film is short yet poignant, running for approximately 60 seconds, it reveals a lot about the cruel nature of the multi-billion-dollar soccer shoe industry.

The film was produced by Hollywood producer Gavin Polone(Gilmore Girls and Panic Room) and director Derek Ambrosi who is known for collaborating with Jay-Z and P. Diddy. Produced alongside animal rights initiative The Center for a Humane Economy(CHE), the short clip is a powerful sequence showing Nike Soccer cleats on the field to the manufacturing facility, to the ruthless slaughtering of wild kangaroos and their offspring in Australia.

I am certainly not an animal rights activist however, this disturbs me. I recently discovered that it’s not just Nike that produces shoes using K-leather. Other big brands such as New Balance and Puma also produce shoes made with kangaroo leather. In an attempt…
