Reno, NevadaBlackbird today begins their process of soliciting feedback from the Reno community regarding the launch of a route between Palo Alto and Reno. The route is intended to better connect the burgeoning technology industry in Reno to Silicon Valley, giving business travelers and companies an easy way to save time and money, avoiding congestion at airports like SFO and SJC. The proposed route would fly from Palo Alto Airport to Reno-Tahoe International airport.

“Reno is full of potential and is proving itself to be a hub for technology and innovation,” Says Blackbird CEO, Rudd Davis. “We want to help support and fuel the growth taking place in the city by making Reno more accessible.”

As part of their plan to connect with key stakeholders in the Reno community, Blackbird is sponsoring and attending VentureBeat’s Blueprint event March 5–7 at the Nevada Museum of Art. The team, including Davis, will be available and accessible to answer questions and gather feedback from event attendees as well as speak with local media that might not be attending the event.

“Blackbird’s planned air service strengthens this regions connection to the Bay Area and offers a service that will make it easier and quicker to access to the Reno-Tahoe area. This service also allows us to expand our efforts to attract additional technology companies, high-level talent and venture capital to reinforce our growing technology community.” Says Mike Kazmierski, CEO of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

Blackbird’s current network of flights is accessible through their app and connects a variety of cities in California and Nevada. Their most recent route, from Palo Alto to Santa Monica, connects two other technology hubs and began service February 19th and utilizes the Swiss made Pilatus PC-12. The world-renowned plane is the same plane Blackbird intends to use for the proposed Reno route, and is known for reliability, safety and executive cabins with spacious seating.
