Biomechanics of growth

Yoga has taught me:

From stability comes expansion.

From a purely anatomical/biomechanical point of view, the safest way to extend and lengthen your muscles is to stabilize them first. Without finding that stability first, the extension is ineffective (plus you put yourself at risk of injury).

Metaphorically speaking, it also kind of applies to life? If you don’t find your grounding, find a place of mental stability, how do you grow effectively and safely? How do you expand and reach new levels?

This explains why I’ve struggled with the feeling that my inner growth has been long stunted. I’ve never been stable long enough to warrant growth. It’s saddened and confused me because I consider myself to be an introspective person. But it never manifest as anything more tangible than some fleeting thoughts. However, this changes, starting now. I’m ready.

Yoga, you’re pretty cool.

What has yoga taught you?
