blackgirl.tech: A Blog

Hello all,

Since the old site has gone offline I have toyed with various designs and layouts for the new site and as BGT grows (the podcast, #BGTJobCall, #BGTReadingList, events, etc), there are new pages and new content to add, which means new designs and I get lost in it all and delay the release of the site further and further. As you can imagine, this hasn’t been great.

However, I’ve decided to go all the way back to basics and use the free resources that are at my finger tips. Essentially, the website was a space for people to learn, teach and share their experiences. So that’s what I’m going back to. Medium is great beacause it allows me to facilitate that in a way that is easy and managable. I can have a group of writers and editors, pretty much like an online magazine.

This blog is for the advancement of black girls and women in tech, a space for them to share their stories and experiences, things they are interested in, and things want to learn or want to teach. The aritcles will be a mix of different topics however, articles about personal experiences will ONLY be accepted from black women writers. Tutorials and news pieces will be accepted from any ally, regardless of race or gender. If you would like to be a contributer for BGT, email me at blackgirl.tech@gmail.com with the subject ‘WRITER’ and some details about what you’d like to write on, or a pitch.

This is an exciting time for BGT and I’m grateful for the continued support from the industry and community. A few companies and individuals have reached out to me to extend a hand, and for those of you that regularly listen to the podcast and RT the @blackgirltech account, thank you! None of this would be possible without your continued love and support.

Here’s to 2016.

Kindly,

Damilola Odelola
