Last week our Business Development Lead Liina took part of a panel discussion about regulations on blockchain in EU and Estonia alongside with a group of outstanding individuals:

Anastasia Gordeeva (Charltons), Martins Liberts (Debitum Network), Iman Mutlaq, Thierry Vallat (Founder at Cabinet Thierry Vallat), Alexandra Levin Kramer (Blockchain Attorney, Partner, Founding Chair of Blockchain Technology at CKR Law)

It was an insightful conversation from the points of view of different countries and legislations.

Liina shared our experience with the regulators in Estonia on complying with laws that apply to the sale of utility and security tokens and thoughts on where the industry might be headed. We all shared similar but individual views on where blockchain-tech is headed, however all agreed that governments should not take the stance of heavy regulation as this risks hindering innovation.

Blockchain can revolutionise a lot areas of business and also help humanitarian projects and causes. Of course there’s a dark side of it — fraudulent ICO projects where the only aim is to scam people out of their investments without planning to deliver on promises. Governments need to find a way to balance this in a way where they do not stand in the way of innovation.

We had a great time at the conference and we’ll keep you updated on all upcoming events.
