It’s hard to believe the fall season is here, but alas, the leaves are beginning to fall and the weather is starting to become cool and crisp. While many of us are changing over our closets, it is also important to change our hair routines. The cool weather can have an effect on hair making it yearn for moisture, volume, and natural ingredients — especially when we’re rocking our natural curly tresses.

So what can we do to makes sure that we don’t damage our hair during the fall? We were excited to get Miko Branch, CEO of Miss Jessie’s to share three quick hair care tips to make our naturally curly hair look fabulous for the fall!

From frizzy to fabulous!

Summer zaps the moisture from your curls — lifting the hair cuticle and creating big time frizz. The more friction on your spirals, the more unwanted frizz you’ll wind up with.

  1. Blot the excess water from your freshly washed tresses with a microfiber towel. Air dry is always the best dry, or use a diffuser attachment on your blow dryer — set to low.

2. Replace the cotton pillowcase with a silk or satin one that won’t pull hair.

3. And, use a defining curl styler that hydrates curls, adds brilliant shine, banishes frizz, and nourishes root to tip (with no greasy residue).

Recommended: Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding has avocado, macadamia, and sweet almond oil. This is our world-famous product for smoothing curls, adding great shine, banishing frizz, and promoting soft and plump curls.

Not today, knots!

Fellow curlies, we know all about tangles and tugging. And, we can’t leave the house with a heaping bird’s nest on top of our head! Ugh. Never dry brush your ringlets. Always use the right hair products (created exclusively for your curls) to gently detangle hair. Practice patience, be kind to your hair, and use your fingers and/or a wide-toothed comb.

Recommended: Miss Jessie’s Harm Me Knot Gentle Sulfate-Free Shampoo is a softening, sulfate-free, ultra-moisturizing shampoo to gently cleanse and detangle parched curls.

Hair dye + damaged hair = don’t go there!

Many of us love to switch up our hair looks in the fall, and play with rich and warm colors inspired by the changing of the leaves. But, as you think about autumn-izing your crown of curls — feed your textured locks. After all, the sweltering summer causes damage, breakage, and brassiness in hair. It’s time to restore, renew, replenish, and rejuvenate your hungry mane with an intense, once a week deep conditioner.

Recommended: Miss Jessie’s Rapid Recovery Treatment is chock-full of shea and avocado butter, brings hair back to life, lends much-needed moisture, revitalizes curl formation, and adds elasticity and bounce.
