Blacxellence — Tamika Abaka-Wood
This is Tamika, she is awesome. The End.
I could stop there, but I won’t because Tamika deserves so much more than that. I wouldn’t actually be writing anything if it wasn’t for her 2016 article titled, ‘When you’re tired of London, you’re tired of life’. It inspired me to start my original writing project to further understand my poor mental health and the rut that I was in. I now type this in 2017 from a much happier, healthier place and would like to thank Tamika for being a catalyst for it all.
Tamika does a ton of shit. Whether it’s writing, researching, brushing up on psychology, travelling, strategising, helping refugees, dancing, teaching dance, or mentoring young people, Tamika brings a level of quality to work that is matched by very few people, that’s why she’s so special. Her levels are incredibly high and they always have been.
It’s important to have people like Tamika in your life because they often provide guidance to you without realising. Tamika does that just by sharing her life experiences with us and reminding us to keep on going with whatever you’re doing because you will find your way in the end. Thank you for sharing life with us, Tamika.
