A TikTok Thread

Journalism in 2021 does not mean what it used to. It’s less about talking a mile a minute and running around with a A5 flippable notebook in hand than it is about clicks and views.

At least, as I approach the end of NCTJ, that’s what I’m learning. I will get round to writing about my NCTJ experience at some point or another. It really has been an insightful one with lots of highs and lows and all the gut-punch rejections and fleeting victories that come with that.

However, being forced to learn online and as Covid-19 continues to exclude us from newsrooms, has been a learning experience in itself. A lesson into the future of journalism and potentially even my place in it.

Inspired by the likes of Sophia Smith Galer, Max Foster from CNN, Dave Jorgensen from the Washington Post, Neve Gordon-Farleigh from Journo Resources and many other up-and-coming journalists that have turned to TikTok in recent months, I have decided to follow in their footsteps.

World Refugee Week — 14th to 20th June

World Refugee Day Quiz Parts 1 &2

Misinformation about the Refugee Crisis

Ways to get Involved with World Refugee Day

Something to read…something to watch…something to listen to…

World Oceans Day — June 8th

World Hunger Day and A Day In Her Food Challenge — May 28th

World Press Freedom Day — May 3rd

India Covid-19 Crisis

UN Spanish Language Day — April 23rd

Earth Day — April 22nd

In the coming months, I expect to be writing a lot of TikTok related content as I benefit and absorb the creativity from this unique platform. That being said, for the moment at least, I will live blogging my TikToks here. This post will act as a thread or a portfolio if you will for this kind of content.

I hope you enjoy.
