Hoy es el día de la lengua española y por esa razón, quiero compartir algunos datos y cifras porque el español es un gran idioma para aprender.
Today is Spanish Language day so I want to share some facts and figures because Spanish is a great language to learn.
¿Qué es el día de la lengua española? / What is Spanish Language Day?
El 23 de abril celebramos el día de la lengua española de la ONU. Durante la década de 1920 surge en Valencia la idea de reconocer las aportaciones de la literatura española. La ONU adoptó el día para celebrar el multilingüismo y garantizar que el uso de todos las lenguas vehiculares de las Naciones Unidas fuera igual.
Sin embargo, también conmemora la vida y obra del escritor Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Quizás lo conozcas como el autor de Don Quijote.
Hoy en día, la conmemoración se extiende más allá de Valencia y España para abarcar a todos los hispanohablantes del mundo.
On April 23rd, we celebrate the UN’s Spanish Language day. During the 1920s, the idea to acknowledge the contributions of Spanish literature started in Valencia. The UN adopted the day in order to celebrate multilingualism and ensure that the use of all UN working languages was equal.
However, it also commemorates the life and work of the writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. You might know him as the author of Don Quixote.
Nowadays, the commemoration extends beyond Valencia and Spain to encompass all Spanish speakers around the world.
