We’ve spent our careers learning how to waste millions of dollars on startups and product development and we’d love to teach you how.

How to waste millions of dollars

  1. Be likable and smart.
  2. Have a good idea.
  3. Find an investor who likes you, thinks you’re smart and your idea is good.
  4. Spend a lot of their money to turn your good idea into a product.
  5. Release that product to the world and find out that, though you were likable, smart and had a good idea, you were wrong and nobody cares.

In becoming experts in wasting money, a byproduct has been some insights into how to do the opposite.

How to not waste millions of dollars

  1. Be likable and smart, but know you’re not that smart.
  2. Have a good idea, but know that it could be great.
  3. Find an investor who likes you, thinks you’re smart and your idea is good, but knows that the difficult journey from good to great requires some serious help, no matter how smart you are.
  4. Spend a little of their money to enlist some veteran help to lead you through every step from good to great.
  5. Solve the most painful problem you can and add real value to people’s lives to find that you may have been wrong, but now you’re right and a lot smarter than you thought.
