During this pandemic, as the world is looking for answers, people stuck at home are looking for ways to have fun with their friends and family. With PUBG and Clash of clans getting stale at some places and getting banned at others (Welcome to India), you are probably looking for something fresh and different to entertain you and your group. Here are the top 5 mobile apps we’ve found for playing group games:

5. Words with Friends ClassicIf you want to sit down and play a game of Scrabble, this is the place to go. With over 50 Million downloads, this game became more popular than even the official Scrabble game!

For those unaware, this is a game where you get a random set of letters and think up words from them. Think of it as a reverse crossword game. Instead of solving a crossword, you’re making one! And who knows? You might even pick up a few words from your friends and enhance your vocabulary!! This game gives you options for solo or collaborative play and even includes the classic one-on-one mode. Play with yourself, your friends, or random players on the internet.

4. Psych — Psych is a good option for people who want to play something light and easy. Launched by the popular TV show host Ellen DeGeneres herself, this game instantly gained popularity and, with 5 Million+ downloads, is amongst the top word games ever. As for the game itself, it’s very similar to Balderdash. Each round, there’s a question that’s pulled out. Each of the players gives out an answer. Then everyone votes on which of the answers is correct. Before you know it, you’ll be fully convinced by a completely made up answer and tap it to get: Psyched! Now you’re the laughing stock of your group!

To make things more interesting, the questions can be chosen from multiple categories. You can try Movie Bluff and Word Up, which are the most popular categories.

3. Plato- From standalone games, let’s move to Arcade-style apps. The best part about these is that there are so many options to choose from, and there’s always more games to look forward to! And Plato is one of the most popular apps in this space. With over 10 million players to play with a user base, Plato offers games like Ocho (their version of Uno), Werewolf, Pool, Bankroll, etc. You can run groups all the way up to 100 people and enjoy games of multiple categories like Fantasy, Sci-fi, Dexterity, Card Play, etc. And Plato allows you to chat with other players during a game! If you are interested in making new friends online and playing with them, you should definitely give this a try.

2. Bunch: Unlike Plato, Bunch does not offer a huge catalog of games in-app. What it does instead is collaborate with other mobile games and feature them inside their app. Bunch has a few in-built games, but most options in its catalog require that you download a separate game altogether. Then what is the point, you ask? Well, Bunch ties it all together with its video calling feature. It embeds video windows on top of any game that you are playing so you can talk to each other while all the fun happens. You can play games like Call of Duty, Scrabble, Exploding Kittens, and even Among Us while conversing with your friends over a video call!

Honorable Mention: Blend

We launched Blend in June 2020 to bring the fun of playing an actual board game to a mobile app. In Blend, games happen completely within a group chat so that you can have the same fun conversations you do while sitting around a table!

We have a growing catalog of games to choose from. We create games from different board game genres and use interesting game mechanics that have been tried, tested, and perfected over the years in tabletop board games.

Mafia, the well-known classic social deduction game, is a treat to play on Blend with its special secret chat feature. The Promotion is a game based on office politics theme and gives you both a tactical card playing game and an absurd corporate life simulator, all in one 🤣. Word Hunt, a team game you can think of as Codenames with a twist, lets you play charades, but with word clues, as you guess and swap different words. Sheep or Wolf is a bidding and bluffing game that you don’t even need a poker face to play 😝. Gold Diggers is an abstract strategy game that is simple, fun, and quick.

These are the 5 games we have so far, but many more are in the works and will be out soon.

We make sure to provide only quality games with a lot of replay value. So, get on Blend, create a group, and start playing with your friends within seconds!!

1.Among Us — Among us is a popular social deduction game launched by InnerSloth studios in 2018 and has taken social media by storm in 2020.

Set in a Spaceship, this game is a modern-day version of Mafia's classic game (or Werewolf). 4 to 10 players take the roles of “Crewmates” who are supposed to perform various tasks on the Spaceship. But one of you is assigned the role of the Imposter, whose job is to sabotage the mission. And other crewmates aim to identify the imposter Among Them.
