I remember in my first days as a new Bliblioneer, when I finally met everyone at the office after weeks of working from home (yes, we’re still hybrid), there were a lot of introductions and new faces, and I properly introduced myself despite knowing I wouldn’t be able to remember all of the names at once. Nevertheless, everyone was kind and welcoming, and my excitement grew during the team’s onboarding session as I learnt more about the operations. It feels like having an internal community who share the same interest and enthusiasm after working in a small team for most of your professional life. People are able to solve the problems you’ve always been worried about and comprehend the “language” you speak.

Over time, as I immersed myself deeply in the culture, I came to see that as the design team that have over 70 people and actively contributing in workshops and seminars in the UX community, a strong branding will not only communicates the team’s values, aesthetic, and personality but also builds recognition among the audiences. It will empower us to stand out and leave a lasting impression in the UX industry.

Hence The Quest Began

Four of us, including me, were circling up in a meeting room in our office. I began the discussion by looking over some preliminary sketches for the logo. Based on the most recent vote cast by the team, we are encouraged to concentrate on the four keywords that represent the team’s spirit: creative, expressive, curious, and diversity-based. Furthermore, we want a logo that will endure and reflect the modern-day difficulties and problem-solving approach of a design team. Which is to develop solutions that consistently advance things.

After three months long of endless iterations, we finally narrowed down to two options for the logo. Each options has undergone thoroughly examined, with feedback from our leaders. The next stage was to return the prerogative back to its rightful citizen, which putting up the logo candidates for the Blibli Design team members to voted on.

Celebrating A Spooky Democratic Election

We took use of the circumstance that the voting occurred during both Halloween and the 2024 presidential campaign to make both events the topic of our logo voting event. Because honestly, what could be more spooky than making decisions for the future?

Short story the occasion was a bliss. We enjoyed our potluck, gathered together, and took pictures with our costumes. Additionally, we also mimic the KPU voting procedure by using voting box (bilik suara), purple ink and chanting “SAAHH” yelling together everytime a paper opened. Our bellies are stuffed and our endorphins are flowing when we go home.

The New Blibli Design

Our new geometric logo form symbolize the simplicity, cleanliness that will make the modernity impression. It also symbolizes the design team’s mission to never stop progressing, to foster continuous team evolution, and never settling for stagnant solutions.

The black and white color stand for elegance, substance, and respectability. Though, we have a different side to our energy and enthusiasm, which is represented by the colors yellow and blue, which highlight the diverse perspectives and playfulness.

Following the selection of the new logo, the team continued to set out to establish guidelines for the logo implementation across media. These are a few examples of the brand collateral:
