“It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.” — W. T. Ellis [click to Tweet!]

It was Christmas Eve and I was seven years old. Our house was lit up as bright as our Christmas tree. I put milk and cookies out for Santa and got tucked into bed.

Like every year before, Santa always so sweetly left my stocking beside my bed so that when I woke up on Christmas morning it was the very first thing I saw. I was always so excited, I could barely sleep!

But this one year, I happened to wake up as Santa was tippy-toeing into my bedroom with with my stocking that he filled up.

Could this really be happening?

I pretended to be sleeping but the excitement overwhelmed me and I peeked. To my surprise, he looked just like my Daddy.

I remember thinking to myself, “I don’t understand! This can’t be!”… as I crammed my teary eyes shut. Seconds later my door closed and Santa’s impersonator was gone. I took a deep breath and decided it just could not be possible. And with a confused and saddened heart, I finally fell asleep.

After waking up on Christmas morning, I told my Mom what I saw and she simply said, “You must have been dreaming, Babes. And anyways, if you don’t believe in Santa, he just won’t come.”

Dream? Yes of course! A silly dream.

And that was the end of that!

If ever I doubted Santa’s realism, Mom would just remind me to believe. It’s up to me. To this day — and I am 43 years old — Santa still remembers to stop by wherever I am.

I believe in him, his magic and the miracles he has the power to bring.

“There are those who think Santa Claus comes down through the chimney; he really enters through the heart.” — Mrs. Paul M.

Do you still believe? Do you have the Christmas spirit in you to keep the magic alive?

Some of you may have children to help with this. Some may not. Either way, allow yourself to believe in the unknown and the magic that has lived in our hearts for so many years. It’s fun, it’s beautiful and it’s something many of us possibly still need…no matter how old we are.

So come on! Believe in the magic of Christmas with me this year. You never know…a miracle may just come your way if you do.

Please share your favourite Christmas story in the comments…AND please share this with someone you know that needs a little reminder to believe a little more this Christmas.
