I’d Rather Do Consistent Small Steps
There are two points in life which we can call Point A and Point B. Point A is where you are right now — your current state. Point B is a state where your goals and dreams are waiting on you.
In between those two points, there are small points — many small points. These small points are important and crucial. These small points are required for you to reach Point B. Without these points, you will not be able to reach Point B, your goals and dreams.
Why is this important to realize?
Most of the time when we want something we want to take some shortcuts, big leaps, and big steps and remove ourselves from the process itself. We want to take the easy way, the 5-minute workout to gain big muscles or to be rich overnight. Your goals and dreams require you to be consistent, they aren’t achieved by you being inconsistent with what you are doing.
Do you think you would finish the book you’re reading if you just do it once in a while? When you only feel like doing it? To be honest, you might still! But the probability of finishing it will be so much lower. If you base your progress on your emotion, the chances are you will fail. Not that our emotion is bad. But we have to be smart when following our emotions. We will not be always motivated. We will not always have the perfect day. But if we can be consistent even on small steps, then it’s just a matter of time before we reach Point B.
Importantly, our journey between Point A to Point B is the most important journey. It is much more important than reaching Point B. Why is that? It’s because in our pursuit to reach Point B is where we develop ourselves. It is where we create the best version of ourselves. And with that, I’d rather choose to have consistent small steps towards my Point B rather than do it once in a while where I have a big chance of failing it and not developing myself throughout the process.
May you reach your dreams.
