Truly Significant Requires Devotion

To attain excellence in what you are doing requires you to do countless hours — seen and unseen hours. Part of the purpose of honing our craft is to bring value to humanity in a form of winning a championship or bridging different ethnic groups.

Excellence doesn’t mean you attain mastery of something. Excellence is purely doing something extraordinarily well. It doesn’t mean you need to master it before you attain excellence. Excellence is naturally attained by countless hours.

It may be possible but it will be hard to bring value if you haven’t attained excellence because naturally, people will be able to sense it over time. And so, in order to bring value, it must reach excellence.

There was an interview with Kobe about not passing the ball and work ethic. He asked the interviewer, why would I pass them the ball? Then he added, I don’t see them practice that hard while here I am practicing hard, trying to master this craft. I don’t respect their work ethic. You might think that’s too much but if you think about it. To become really good or reach excellence, you have to put in the work. You can’t do it halfway and expect a lot of results.

There are no standard requirements. It is up to you how you will work it out.

May you reach your dreams.
