When Block Bastards was founded, back in 2018, the main goal was to use the capabilities of Distributed Ledger Technologies to solve some of the problems of today’s world. One of them was the polarization of the gaming industry, where small studios and indie developers were unable to compete against big corporations, in terms of promotion budget, exposure on marketplaces and much more. In order to help indie developers and small studios, we as Block Bastards decided to develop a solution that could help them compete fairly against big corporations and so QUDO was born.

QUDO is a proof-of-gameplay reward mechanism that allows any game built on the Unity gaming engine (and other engines coming soon) to easily add blockchain-powered features without requiring any blockchain experience.

Now, thanks to QUDO and blockchain technology, there is a way for game developers to grow their gaming community, earn cryptocurrency and acquire help from adhering services without the need to use complicated transactions and fees, such as Credit Cards, Paypal and others.

Initially, QUDO was built on the EOS blockchain, but during 2019 EOS spam attacks, we experienced some operational issues due to the chain design, which potentially could have allowed an attacker to lock other users out of QUDO. As a result of these attacks, Block Bastards felt the need to explore different options based on the same protocol, in order to maintain the quality of our project running on a more stable network.

Since we had been developing QUDO on the EOS network until then, we wanted to switch to a similar blockchain where we wouldn’t face serious issues related to migration. Therefore, we searched for a few EOS.IO-based blockchain protocols which fulfilled our requirements. Even though each one of them had their strengths and weaknesses, there was one that stood out — Telos.

Telos is a 3rd generation DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake) blockchain with fast transactions just like EOS blockchain, but with lower fees and, most importantly, with free crypto wallets. This aligns with QUDO’s “soft landing” mechanism, where everytime a new player registers on the platform a crypto wallet is created, without any technical requirement whatsoever. Our goal is to lower the entry barrier for all users that are interested in joining us, even the ones who don’t feel comfortable with cryptocurrency and blockchain features.

Besides fulfilling most of our requirements, we felt that they had genuine interest in our project and were willing to invest their time and efforts into helping us succeed. This cooperation finally led to our partnership agreement on April 23 (know more).

“Qudo has been one of many dApps driving growth and interest in Telos. What’s exciting is that like many projects they decided to join Telos not because the crowds were already on Telos(they weren’t ) and not because of money(limited supply at this early stage of telos) they joined based on being part of a evolving network offering which continues to favour the needs of the stakeholders, — holders, apps and users of the web 3.0 economy”

Justin Giudici, Telos Foundation Chief Products Officer

Since we partnered with Telos, we have been closely working together on promoting QUDO to the gaming/blockchain community and their own community has been growing exponentially with no signs of stopping anytime soon. Telos is always bringing new interesting projects to their network, which led to an amazing users growth between April and June (from 7.25 to 104.291) and made them the number one blockchain in terms of Activity/Valuation (Potential Ratio) during the month of June, as you can see on the graphs below (know more).

“Since Qudo has joined Telos, we are happy that much of the promise of the ecosystem has continued to come to fruition, impressive app and user growth for instance, this is just the start of course. The Foundation, Blockbastards, the evolving Qudo gaming community, other apps/projects, the BP’s and other stakeholders work every day to make Telos the best network for the next generation economy.”

Justin Giudici, Telos Foundation Chief Products Officer

Right now, we are collaborating with the Telos Foundation to launch QUDO on the main net. QUDO token will be available for the general public and will eventually be listed on crypto exchanges later in the year, facilitating the acquisition of tokens to be spent among adhering games & services. There is still time for Game Developers and Service Providers (promoters, 2D/3D artists, etc) to join QUDO with the possibility of becoming Founding Partners.
