ICON Europe community voting dApp — the new era begins
Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen!
Not long ago we started our journey as an actively contributing member of the ICON ecosystem by proposing as a P-Rep candidate. Both our promises and the expectations of our dear supporters are sky-high. But what puts off citizens the most? Representatives that make huge announcements but aren’t true to their word when it gets down to the nitty-gritty.
So here we are, making an announcement about our current development status: we’re working on a voting dApp on ICON to interact with European ICONists!

Why are we doing it?
As all members of the ICON Europe initiative, we also devote ourselves to grow the ecosystem of ICON in Europe to make it thrive. The ICX that are accumulated during the activities as a P-Rep, should be reinvested into the likes of dApps, documentation, events and so on. However, how should we know what the people want, if we can’t listen to them? To give the European community a voice we’re creating this governance tool to carry out polls about various topics!
What are we doing?
The voting dApp will be straight forward. P-Reps can create polls with various possible options. Then, ICONists can vote with their wallet for an option, and at the end of the voting period the results will be announced.
One of the wonderful novelties of blockchain-based voting, is the fact that you can facilitate rearrangement of your votes. As many of you already experienced during the P-Rep voting process, votes can change at any moment and are only final at the end of the voting period.
Our SCORE (smart contract on reliable environment) is of course coded in python, and you will be able to view the polls and vote through the web interface we are creating (or of course through a command line interface if you prefer that). To sign the transaction with your private key in order to successfully submit a voting transaction, the web interface will be connected to your ICONex wallet via ICONex connect.
Great! So now there’s another big announcement in the blockchain space that takes 3 years of development time. No, not this time — the first version of the voting dApp will be released next week!
