Neon District Update — November 12, 2021
The Blockade Games team has been everywhere the past few months, raising funds and awareness for Neon District for an exciting Q4 2021, and preparing to take over the world in 2022!
Season Zero Shells are Live
The moment you’ve all been waiting for: Neon District Season Zero gear are now playable in Neon District! These shells introduce a new set of base assets into the loot crate, allow you to apply a new look to your armor and weapons, and also provide a bonus level up for the first time you apply a shell to an asset!
You can migrate your shells over from Ethereum mainnet into Polygon, which retires the original Season Zero asset, and creates a new “Shell” asset within Neon District on Polygon, delivered to your user account. You also receive a free base asset for the shell so that you can apply the shell immediately, and 7,500 NEON to help offset the gas fees to transfer the shell on Ethereum.
New Base Assets Added to Loot Crates
To support the Season Zero shells, five new sets of armor and five new weapons were added to the Loot Crates. You’ll discover all of these as you collect new gear and meet other players in Neon Pizza.
How to Use Shells
1. View your shell and click on “Convert” to migrate your Ethereum mainnet Season Zero shell over to Polygon. Due to the current gas fees on Ethereum, you’ll receive 7,500 NEON to help offset the gas fees spent to migrate the asset over.
2. Once transferred, you may need to wait a minute or two for the new assets to mint to your account on Polygon. Once available, you’ll be able to “Bond” the asset to your new base asset.
3. Select the base asset you’d like to bond to, and you’ll see stats about the asset before you apply the shell. The bonding action is an on-chain event, which burns the shell from supply forever.
4. Once bonded, your base asset will update with the new shell. If this is the first time you’ve applied a shell to a base asset, you’ll get a bonus level up!

Later, in the first week of November, the Blockade Games team spoke at [NFT.NYC](http://NFT.NYC) during a day of blockchain game panels and talks. CEO Marguerite deCourcelle and CTO Ben Heidorn spoke on separate panels about the Metaverse and Play-to-Earn gaming, and how Neon District is forging the future of both.
Version 2.0 is Coming!
We’re weeks away from dropping a major visual update to Neon District, to set the tone and future of Neon District. Prepare for some amazing changes, which lays the foundation for tons of new features in 2022.
Below is a quick update from Kyle Chivers, Art Director on Neon District
Fight for what you believe in.
For me this optimizes what Neon District is about. Numerous factions and actors hold by this principle and fight for a number of different things:
- Survival
- Rebellion
- Vanity
From Unity Megacorp, an organized crime syndicate to a group of upstart Edits carving an edge to hold onto in a futuristic cyberpunk existence where anyone can fall hard.
In comparison to the previous update, this one will seem light on details but, rest assured there is a lot going on under the hood in anticipation of various product improvements. One thing I’d like to share is the early visualization for hub-world Shen-Ju.
The map located within a new Dashboard interface will hold together the way players experience many of the gameplay and functionality activities in the game and will be a place that you come to know very well over 2022.

The map holds many locations for the player to explore:
- The evening recluse of Jack class types in the basement club Zero Day where a steady stream of alcohol helps them realize their dreams and aspirations for “the Verse”
- The rampant use of performance enhancers and the vulgar stench of unmaintained gym equipment in the notorious 2.5* Gym
- All this under the constant hum of Yume’s NDART (Neon District Automated Rapid Transit) system, a system of multiple automated rail lines serving both the haves with clean a frequent service and have-nots with a less glamorous commute.
