[MEMBERS SPOTLIGHT] Introducing Arctur and Tourism 4.0 Demo Pilot

Among our newest members is the company Arctur, which has been pioneering by merging research, science, art and business for more than 29 years. Connecting traditional sectors with new technology makes them unique, as evidenced by their most resounding collaboration, the Tourism 4.0 project, which uses innovations to discover new ways to promote Slovenia, digitize tourist services and drive sustainable tourism, which puts the local community’s quality of life in the centre.

Arctur’s vision is to empower organizations to reinvent themselves and co-create innovative products and services, contributing to a more sustainable and equitable future, which is why they make a perfect fit with the vision of Blockchain Alliance Europe.

As the recipient of the most significant funds in Slovenia in tourism development, their initiative Tourism 4.0 came to life in 2018. The collaboration, which Blockchain Alliance Europe also supports as a partner, aims to connect stakeholders in the smart tourism industry by seeking opportunities, co-creating enriched experiences and adapting the tourist offer to the new, digitized era with the help of the key enabling technologies from Industry 4.0.

As a continuation of this idea, the Tourism 4.0 Demo Pilot emerged, moving their efforts toward developing an innovative business ecosystem that will allow the tourism economy to upgrade engagement between guests and tourist providers and foster new T4.0 products based on the needs and expectations of guests.

Collaboration platform 4.0, previously developed in the Tourism 4.0 TRL 3–6 research project, will encourage interactions between tourism stakeholders through the T4.0 Core and integral technology pillars, such are TIM (Tourism Impact Model), T4.0 Flows, CIT (Collaboration Impact Token) and DOTI (Personal Digital Tourism ID) and enable that different tourist providers will be able to develop and integrate their applications into the platform.

The new business ecosystem will revolve around the idea that tourists should become the centre and co-creators of their experience, meaning different technologies will be used to enable a one-point solution that will help them navigate through the country with ease according to specific factors such as time, weather, destination occupancy, price-performance and most importantly, their interests. For more, read the article published in Slovenia Times.

Many companies and institutions are involved in the project to achieve all the stated goals, but what is especially important for our industry is that the blockchain forms an essential part. Therefore, in addition to Arctur being the project initiator, two of our members are included in the Demo Pilots, namely Lucis, who advises on the use of blockchain, and Netis, whose proprietary blockchain platform AceBlock is used as the basis to secure digital personal identity DOTI and enable the use of CIT (Collaboration Impact Token), a digital voucher that will change its value according to location and time and promote positive behaviour of all stakeholders. Using token incentives will enable the management of tourist flows, including diverting tourists from overcrowded destinations to those off the beaten path.

The development and results of the project are more than promising and utterly necessary in the times we are witnessing to remain competitive. If your business has an idea or wants to know more, Arctur encourages you to contact them and become a part of the community building.
